What's the most effective way to get rid of blackheads?

Should I buy a special product specifically for removing blackheads?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Removing the cause of blackheads, excessive sebum and dead skin cells, is the best way to get rid of them. Use a gentle, water-soluble cleanser followed by a gentle exfoliator each day. Be gentle and don't over do it. Be sure that the exfoliator does not contain alcohol, isopropyl mystate, lanolin, sodium lauryl sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate, propylene glycol, mineral oil or parabens.

Hi @jonsigler, blackheads are types of acneand are actually forerunners of acne.

These are the best ways to get rid of them:
1. Hot steam your face for about 5 minutes for this will help open up pores and it would be easy then to remove blackheads. Next is apply a facial scrub on the affected area and scrub using your fingers for about 2 to 3 minutes and wash your face with cold water and pat dry. You can use grains with honey to naturally get rid of blackheads.

2. You can also apply benzoyl peroxide on the nose and leave it overnight. This will help dry out the blackheads.

3. You can also use a few drops of astringent on a cotton ball and wipe the area where the blackheads are. This will dry up the oil present in the pores and tightens the pores as well.

4. You can also wash your face with warm water and get a blackhead removing strip and place it on your nose or on part of your face where there are blackheads. Put this strip for about 5 to 10 minutes and remove it off.
5. Mix lime juice, glycerin and almond oil in equal proportions and apply it on the affected part and wash it off with cold water.

6. Another effective way is to mix lime juice and salt in equal proportions and rub it on the area with blackheads.
