What's the most difficult test you've ever taken?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Academically, I generally do pretty well on tests, but I deplored the math section of the SAT. Not only am I terrible at math, but I felt the test was poorly constructed. One question was so poorly written than I broke the rules and recorded it in the liner of my calculator so I could show it someone later and see if they could make sense of it. The worst part of that one was that wrong answers actually deduct from your score.

Physically, I once took the test issued to police cadets. I wasn't trying to be a cop, just volunteering for them, but that test was harder than any physical test I had ever taken. I passed, technically, but nearly threw up. Several people did puke after or during the run.

Emotionally, my first skydiving lesson/test was the worst. Each jump is a test to see if you can move on to the next lesson. Climbing out onto the strut and letting go of that airplane was one the most difficult things I've ever done.

Without a doubt the ASVAB. Short for the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test, the ASVAB ranks military candidates and helps to determine their eligibility for service and what jobs are available to them. It was less of the test and more the anxiety of scoring well that made if difficult for me. I really wanted to get into a good C-school and to be able to get a better ranking job. Had a been a man, based on my test scores, I would have been able to test for submarine and nuclear positions.

I think the AP Economics test I took in high school was the most difficult for me. The text we used to study for it was terribly dry and technical. The night before the test, I still didn't understand the Federal Reserve system. My dad sat me down and explained it in plain English and I finally got it. That information influenced probably 1/3 of the questions on the test, including an essay question. I ended up with a score of 4 out of 5, or a B.

The most difficult test I have ever taken was the typing speed. I got only 5 words per minute, lol.

Medical word building test of my medical transcription course. I always thought I knew quite a few medical terms until I started that course and found out just how much more I had to learn.

Hands-down winner for the ultimate prize... The second test to get my therapy license.

In California, it's called the Written Clinical Exam (WCE). As someone who also has a Master's degree in Education... which includes the design and development of tests, this is one of the WORST exams I've ever seen... and you have to pass it before you can start making some actual money as a therapist.

The idea is sound: Give candidates clinical vignettes and test them on actual cases. The implementation of the exam is horrid. The test will present four multiple-choice answers that typically have four to five items on each answer. Many of the items are repeated, but subtly changed. The answers are vague AND, typically, all of the answers are right. You have to pick the "rightest" of the answers.

It's terrible... and about 50% of the people (including me) fail it the first time.

My Agricultural Chemicals Applicator test. You really have to know a lot to be able to apply agricultural chemicals on plants. I studied for 6 months for it, and it was so much memorizing. It was worth it, though, because it got me more opportunities, simply because only 25 out of every 100 people even pass it the first time through, and I made a 92.

So far, I was able to successfully navigate and complete most tests I have had to take during my school and college years. However, I am fearing one impending test that I am planning to take next year April: the MCAT. My dream for many years now has been to apply to medical school and the time is finally right. Now I have one year left to study for this horrendous and challenging test that can either make or break you and I am feeling queasy just thinking about it. However, I think I have to approach this test, like I have all other tests in the past: with a positive attitude and telling myself that I will leave the room with nothing less than an excellent score (so much harder to do on standardized tests). I am scared of this test, because of what I have heard others tell me so far and because of the high score I need to remain competitive in my medical school application. I am anticipating that this test will be the most challenging test that I am facing (however thereafter, if I am accepted and admitted to medical school, there will be plenty of nerve wrecking tests to come that are decisive over your future).
