What's the most addictive game that you've ever played?

Tip for best answer: M$0.29
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

For me it was The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion.

I've logged over 600 hours never starting the main quest. I play it on the PC though and it has so many mods running, it's nothing like the standard game. Everything is very deadly but the rewards are so much better.

Actually, I may have played Star Wars Galaxies about 10 times as long between 03 and 05 but Sony ruined it so I try not to think about it.

For me, personally?

As someone who is not much of a gamer geek, Katamari Damacy was the most addictive game I ever played.

The gameplay is very, very simple. You use the analog sticks on the Playstation controller to move a big, sticky, sphere around the screen. You run into stuff, and it sticks to the sphere. That's it, really. Not much skill involved.

However, it's the other stuff in the game that makes it addictive. The visuals are trippy and awesome. The plot is silly, but hillarious. The music in the game is earworm-catchy. And when you are rolling up things on your sticky sphere, it is a ton of fun.

See below for the trippy opening song

And here for a sample of gameplay.

For my husband, he definitely gets immersed in the "World-of" fantasy MMORPGs. He was playing Dragon Age pretty much non-stop this winter, and moved to Star Ocean for the spring.

Personally I like hidden objects games and I play Secret of Margrove Manor off and on for a year and then started over. I play on Pogo all the time and love Scrabble, Canasta, and Jungle Gin. I like playing with the computer because it goes much faster. I also love the games on MostFun.com. They are all full length and free. I guess it would just depend on what you like. I'm not in to killing and aliens and all that stuff, but depending on what you like they sound like a lot of fun, too. I also like word games and puzzles. Just depends on my mood!!

World of Warcraft. I started playing when the game was released in November 2004, and I'm still playing. I go through phases where I don't play for a while, but I always come back. The fact that they keep adding new content and activities definitely keeps me interested.

I was pretty addicted to Fallout 3 and, like @chemist, I was even having dreams out it! It was a little unnerving, so I had to buckle down even harder in order to beat it so I could sleep again!!

I was staying up till 300 on a work night and then coming into work and looking up walkthru's and tactics and basically underachieving.

My wife won;t let me even try to play World of Warcraft. She says she'd never see me again.
She may be right... Ha!!

Yeah they are. Especially when you add in nude mods, lightsabers, additional continents, Predators, and Aliens :D
