What's the incubation period for herpes?

If I contract the herpes virus how long does it take for it to show up on my skin? Can you have herpes and not even know it? Can a blood test detect the herpes virus right away?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Only about half the people who get herpes have symptoms. Those who do have symptoms usually have an outbreak two to 10 days, or within three weeks, after they get the virus. The first symptoms are usually the worst. They are called primary herpes.
You also can ask some people who have herpes on datingpoz.com.They will show you experience.

Hello throne,
I have not been able to find a definite answer for the incubation period, the closest I've come is anywhere from weeks, to until your first outbreak. It is absolutely possible to have herpes without any symptoms. Often times it can be mistaken for a simple temporary skin condition. Getting tested is the surefire way of knowing whether or not you do have it. A blood test can be done to detect it, but the best way is if you think you are having an outbreak to get the sores tested. The only way to be sure one way or another is to get tested (I believe it's every 3 months if sexually active). Hope this answers your question!
