What's the easiest way to use up everything in your fridge before you go on a vacation?

I know that you can freeze bread, cheese and unused meats - are there other things you can freeze? I'm mostly looking for a way to use up veggies and dairy. The only thing I can think of is to make a veggie soup, but I'd love other ideas, especially for the big container of plain yogurt I have!

You could take the veggies and saute them, then add the yogurt and some curry powder and other spices and make a yummy veggie curry!

I guess that would depend on what's in your fridge. Although, this situation does scream "blatant excuse for a party" to me. Veggie platter for everyone.

Excellent point. What's in my fridge right now is basically just a ton of weird veggies left over from the Farmer's Market (turnips, a romanesco broccoli that I think I'm going to chuck, parsnips) and lots of milk and yogurt. I'm not a vegetarian but learned to cook when I was, so I almost never buy meat.

Make some soup or have friends come and take it. beats just putting in a landfill.

I'm not sure what is in the fridge that you are trying to use up, but you might consider the "Green Smoothie." I drink green smoothies just about everyday and I love them. The basic concept is that people don't get enough veggies in their diet, especially the dark greens. So you can blend say... Spinach, with apples, bananas, and a lime and make a great tasting drink (it may look a little strange). Try just a fruit smoothie and use the yogurt with fresh fruit and ice in a blender to make an alternative to an ice cream shake. Free recipes online...
