What's the difference when someone says, "I love you, but I'm not IN love with you?"

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

To love someone is really a choice. We like to think of is as a feeling, but love is wanting the best for someone else. That's why we're supposed to love others like we love ourselves, because we always want the best for ourselves. Technically, we should want the best for all the people in our lives, but most of us only love those who love us.

"In love" is how we generally describe the emotional and physical attraction we have for someone. Being "in love" with a person is actually a lesser state than love, because true love has nothing to do with the person's attractiveness or qualities. Think about a mother's love. She wants the best for her children even if they aren't likable, attractive, whatever.

If someone is not in love with you, that means they don't feel the emotional or physical draw to you that is needed to continue in a romantic relationship. Even though love is stronger than a feeling, you need to have feelings to become romantically involved. Those feelings can come and go, and sometimes you develop or lose the in love feeling.

The bottom line is a person who says that has no romantic interest in you but cares for you as a person.

Well James, we all have people in our lives that we love. Family, friends etc.
But when you are "in love" with someone thats completley different. If I tell
a man I am "in love" with him, I mean.........I want to be with you, I want to see
no one else, I want to make love to you, I want to make you happy, I want to
see if there is possibly a future for us together.
When I tell someone I love them.....I mean.......You are an awesome friend,
I enjoy spending time with you, I am here for you, etc. I hope this helped you
some James......Best Wishes

he difference bettween I love you but I'm not IN love with you, usually means that while you are a great friend and there are special feelings between the two of you, things are just not meant to be. While they might love you, they are not IN love with you enough to spend the rest of their lives with you.
