What's the difference between the first Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi @worldcup14, the 2 games are actually very similar with one another. The main difference I see is that in Dead Rising 2, you can now combine certain items to form more powerful ones. These new items help you level up faster so its a must to try and use them as much as possible.

Another difference is the inclusion of online cooperative play. With Dead Rising 2, you and a partner can now play through the game's entire campaign, helping each other defeat the hordes of zombies and psycopaths the game throws at you. You can't play split-screen though so you'll need an internet connection (and an Xbox Live Gold membership if you are playing on an Xbox 360) to participate on multi-player games.

Aside from those, the 2 games play the same in terms of how the story progresses and how missions are tied to the game timer.
