Gymnastics involves a performance of an exercise that requires physical strength, flexibility, agility, co-ordination, balance and grace. It is an Olympic sport and governed by the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). Gymnastics involve the skill of balancing, as well as aerobic exercises across different events such as uneven parallel bars, the vault, balance beam and floor exercise.

Acrobatics refers to a display of balance, agility and motor coordination, and can be found in many sports as well as performances.

The main difference between gymnastics and acrobatics is that gymnastics makes use of various equipment such as those mentioned above, whereas acrobatics is the use of one’s body to perform these feats. As such, you can see that one would employ Acrobatics in Gymnastics, as well as in other sports such as ballet and diving.
