Bebop is a style of Jazz marked by intense virtuosity, both in execution and composition. In a lot of ways, it is somewhat like Swing music, with changes (short chord changes) on almost every beat. One of the differences between Swing and Bebop is that Bebop relies far more on improvisation and, harmonically it tends to be more advanced. There are technical concerns in Bebop, with sophisticated rhythms and expanded tonality.
Most styles of Jazz are less technically advanced and there are few styles of music (with maybe the exception of Classical) that require so much of the performers.
