The decongestant does not have any effect in the rash but only in the nose and sinuses. It is the antihistamine that alleviates the rashes which is the same dose in both Allegra and Allegra D.
Allegra D should not be used for those who are hypertensive, diabetic, with heart problems, prostate problems, or hyperthyroidism since it contains pseudoephedrine, a decongestant.

This Pseudoephedrine HCl is a sympathomimetic amine that is very active orally. It exercises a decongestant effect on a person’s nasal mucosa, thereby causing the blood vessels in the nose to be narrower. This action is what results in the clearing of the nasal passage and relieving congestion.
Allegra does not have Pseudoephedrine HCl and therefore would not be so effective if used to relief nasal congestion, but Allegra- D would do the job, just fine. I think this two in one function of Allegra-D is what made it a favorite prescription by doctors.

Regular Allegra is good for your runny nose, itchy and watery eyes.....the Allegra D will help when you become Stuffy. It all depends on your symptoms and how bad one's individual allergies are. Best advice, talk to your doctor.
