A radiologist is a physician who was trained to obtain and interpret medical images with the aid of x-rays, radioactive substances, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging.
Radiographers on the other hand produce x-ray films or radiographs of different parts of the body to diagnose a certain medical problem. They are the ones who prepare the patient before the procedure. They will explain what is the procedure, remove unnecessary things like jewelries, watches, etc. They are also trained to know how to properly position the patient to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation. Then they place the film , set controls on the x-ray machine, make the exposure, and finally develop the film.
They should follow the physician's instructions for patient's safety including themselves.
There are other types of radiographers. Some specializes in CT or Computerized Tomography or in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
