What's the biggest question you have about "forgiveness?"

Tip for best answer: M$0.15
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The biggest question that I have about forgiveness would be "What do I have to do to get it?" In this respect, I am talking only about interpersonal relationships. Is forgiveness something that is earned, or is it something that just take "time?" I guess I am a person that just likes things spelled out for me too much, but there are probably people in my life that may never forgive regardless of what I did to try and change that.

The most important question I have about forgiveness is "Will I get it?".. I mean the first question to come to mind was "Can I have forgiveness?" but after a quick check on that I came to the conclusion that a much more important question would be the former... "Will I get forgiveness?"

John Kennedy said, "Forgive your enemies, but never forget them."

My question is, "Don't you have to forget sometimes?" Otherwise, you'll spend your whole life remembering how they did you wrong, letting it boil inside. Most people don't truly forgive, they have what I like to call "temporary forgiveness." They forgive momentarily, but at any moment in time, what you did could be brought back up into the conversation and used against you.

You can forgive them, but don't forget how they turned on you at that point.

I ask myself "Can I let this go?" , and then "When can I let this go?" and finally "How about Now?" Definitely the third question is the biggest. Sometimes I find the sting has reduced from a 10 on the "Ouch" scale to a 6 without totally disappearing. If that's the case, I ask myself again the same three questions the next time I meditate.

Well, now I know how to answer this question after seeing other answers. What @barakabacca is supposedly looking for in an answer.
My biggest question is, "Why can't people forgive others?" I always think that as a response to something that trigger me. Nevertheless, I understand somewhat why some people can't forgive others. I'm glad I can . . . so far.

I voted this unhelpful as, while your link is relevant, you don't answer the asker's question. :)
