I think what KatKenig said most describes my biggest challenge. I have ADDisque tendencies and sometimes by the end of the day I'm left with little "work" done.

Turning work off! It's always there! It's so easy to pop in my office for "just a minute" to do something; I am always shocked by the time warp that seems to occur while I'm in there, as a few minutes quickly turns into an hour or more!

Accountability and Isolation are the two challenges faced daily when working from home. I have owned my own business and worked from home since my son started first grade, he is now 25. I love the freedom that comes with working from home but there are many challenges that will face you.

Accountability will look different for each person working from home. You will need to learn to keep track of your hours, client projects, deadlines and time. One way to keep yourself accountable, is to calendar everything. We usually use our calendar to keep up with our client appointments, family commitments, sporting events, etc. Try using your calendar for a week to keep track of everything you do, think in terms of billable hours - much like an attorney would do. Not only will this method help hold yourself accountable for your time, you will soon see where you are wasting time or where you need to free up time.

Isolation is another big challenge when working from home. Depending on what your home-based business is or what you do from home, you may go days without interacting with people. It's much different from when you walked in an office (or other business environment) and could bounce ideas off of your co-workers. If you are working on the internet, you will find yourself staring at a screen for hours on end.

To break the isolation, use your calendar again. Schedule a weekly lunch with an associate who will help hold you accountable to your deadlines or who can brainstorm ideas with you for client work or for your business. Check out a local networking group, this could help you grow your business as well. If you telecommute, schedule a time to go to your office and keep in touch with your co-workers and superiors.

I hope these tips help, I created an entire business based around the challenges I face running my business from home.

Maintaining a healthy balance between business time and personal time. I tend to spend alot more time doing business related work and do not spend enough time recharging my battery. Lack of physical seperation between home and business location makes it difficult to achieve the balance.

Time Management! Creating your own schedule and prioritizing can become tasks in themselves. Discipline and strict time management is needed when working from home.

Getting my children to understand that even though I'm simply behind a closed door in our house, I'm actually "at work" and cannot drop everything to mix up chocolate milk and would they please ask the nanny for help.

Energy management. When you are alone in your office you have only your own energy to fuel work and ideas. The physical environment lacks the vibrancy and resonance of combined energy you feel when you work with others. Figuring out how to plan the work to fit your naturaly high and low energy cycles throughout the day and finding ways - like heading out to the local coffee shop, or joining a master mind group - to access other energy sources helps minimize burnout.

Procrastination. I'm too tempted to just do one load of laundry, or just get the dishwasher going, or just do a little weeding in the garden. I'm much more productive working, as I am today, from a space like a library or in the office. At home, it's too easy to let time get away from me doing all the little things that I should wait for the end of the work day to tackle. And it's not just chores, either... I'm way more likely to waste time on Facebook, or wander off to get more coffee, or to flip on iTunes and start searching for new music when I'm at home. Time gets the better of me and before I know it, my husband is home from work and I haven't gotten anything productive done! (Oh, well I probably produced clean laundry and dishes and maybe baked some bread, but you know what I mean!!)

For me it's the same situation Beverly Ingle mentions.

And on the other side, here in my country Guatemala, people don't trust in a home based business. They want to see a fancy location. It's ironic!
