What's the best way to secure a website/youtube/twitter/everything since many are already taken- w/o much $$$?

It is so hard to not only find a good website name that is not already taken, but to also match that up with every social media service... so the best answer needs to have a fairly solid method/tip/advice for going about to accomplish this... and please DO NOT suggest spelling out the .com (ie; website - mahalo.com, youtube name - mahalodotcom, etc)
Tip for best answer: M$8.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think, having had to figure this out myself a few times, the domain name is what you should focus on first. Odds are that if your domain name is available, the usernames should be available too. I've yet to run into a situation where the domain name I eventually purchased wasn't available on at least twitter and youtube.

It also is ultimately the most important thing (the name of your product and the domain name), so worrying about the usernames on twitter, etc. seems like a distraction.

Imagine it this way - you have a great product name and it's available as a domain name. Do you not use the name because you can't get a twitter username with the same name? I wouldn't.

Be creative, if you really like a name and it's taken don't just add numbers come up with something else. Try changing your name's idea into another language and see if that inspires a variant. If you are so inclined you can "l33t" speak it like changing moderndaymicah to |\/|0d3rnd4y|\/|1cah kinda lame nowadays but if you're into it might help. Don't be afraid to give up on a name you liked and search for something similar but not the same. I often make up names for characters off the top of my head. Like "Ferella Torsch" or "Munshe Endrad" but I take it you're wanting something that represents you or your company. For me I chopped my last name and stuck Productions at the end. It works well for me and I got lucky enough that it fits the industry. Send a direct message if your interested in what that is.

Whether it's a company or you personally you can choose some ideals of yours maybe make that a part of the name. Let's take fire fighters as a company name ideal. Fire Fight might work, or exuro macto -latin some ideas... mactex... no too apple texas.. exuro mac... good or exuro by itself is kind of cool though... i like it. Now run around seeing if it's available everywhere. If not start over.

I think you misunderstand the internet.

Nobody goes to youtube.com or twitter.com because of the easy to remember name. they go there because the service fits their needs.

i use foosed, which I have never seen taken anywhere. I chose it because I play foos ball a lot, and because I am often confused. sort of a combo of the two. Just think about things that define you, and see what you come up with, chances are it will be something unique.

I was thinking about that yesterday. My approach was going to think of something ridiculous and search it out. Although, my user name with its odd spelling of Lyn is always available. I'd suggest unusual spellings and word combinations.

They want a method for finding a website name that will also be available as a username/account name on Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, etc.

(for example, take a look at TPMtv (www.tpmtv.com). They have the domain name, the YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/tpmtv) etc.

Think silly. Add something to a common name, or muck with the letters a bit.

Here are some examples: Instead of pants.com, try doodlepants.com or porcupants.com

Instead of facebook.com, try facemagazine.com or animalface.com, or fasebook.com
