What's the best way to fix a broken Nintendo DS Lite?

My DS Lite has a broken hinge. I tried glue.

I would like to completely replace the insides with a new case. I have the technical skills (I think) but can not find where to get empty cases or how-to videos on replacing.

It's for my 4 year old son so I don't care about looks of the case (ie, the color). Also, I would be up for permanently mounting it in an open position too.
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Try dealextreme.com - They sell new DS Lite cases, screens, stuff like that. For example, here's a black casing:

And here's a review on the casings, with links for other sites where you can buy them:

It'll cost around USD$20 in total. Also, for a how-to guide, try GBAtemp:

Hope you can fix the DS!

Here you go:

http://www.dslitereview.com/accessories/ds-lite-replacement-case-review/

It gives reviews on the replacement case as well as links (near the bottom) on how to get kits to do replacements.

Here's a link to the store that they can be purchased at:
http://store.videogamecentral.com/nidsac.html

An alternative (if you want something really cool):
http://www.gameyeeeah.com/replacement-case-for-nds-lite-p-1505.html?osCsid=98659ln0thdmtcabm99g91n8m1

Of course, this was just a link I found for an etched one. You could find some different styles on that site as well.

The alternative to replacement of the case is to use some sort of bracketing system (that you can get at any hardware store). Just make sure to use coarsely threaded screws (think spaced out, few threads, lots of grip) as opposed to finely threaded screws. This will give them enough bite to hold onto the plastic.

I repaired my kids by replacing the shell. Got it from http://powergamingparts.com/nintendo-ds.html Takes a lot of care, very small screws and parts involved. Special care needed for the springs on the edge buttons.

I would check to see if your warranty is still good first. unfortunately mine wasn't.

i had a small crack in the hinge of mine, but i caught it quick enough that i was able to apply a small amount of gorilla glue in the crack. but that doesn't matter now, because my battery leaked and is now slowly killing my DS lite
