what's the best vacuum for your money? me and my fiance are trying to figure out what to get...

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would ultimately your choice will be based on an informed opinion about vacuum cleaners.

The buzzle dot com site talks about all the different types of vacuum cleaners that we have out there and their appropriateness to each surface, kind off consumer insight.
http://www.buzzle.com/articles/128574.html

Consumer research dot com will give detailed overviews and reviews of the the various vacuum cleaners out there and their cost
http://www.consumersearch.com/vacuum-cleaners

These other two sites claim to give the best bargains for vacuum cleaners they stock dyson, miele and sebo among other popular brands.Check them out and good luck.

Consumer reports are currently saying...
Hoover WindTunnel Anniversary Edition U6485-900
Kenmore Progressive 35922
Kenmore Progressive 36932

Also note that even though the Hoover rated the highest. They have reported for some time that Hoover's have reliability problems.

I bought a Kenmore per there suggestion a couple of years ago and have been very happy with it so far. I've had not issues with it and it does a really good job.

I'm sure Dyson's will come up but I would like to point out ConsumerReports has continually rated this only at a medium level yet the price is nearly the most expensive.

I have had my original dyson 14 for about 5 years now. It cost about 400 retail. Never had any issues.

I have a multi pet household and spent years killing vacuum cleaners trying to keep up with the pet hair. I got a Dyson about 5 years ago and I love it. Have  hardwood/tile floors so can't comment on how it performs on carpet, but for my purposes it rawks.
