What's the best time to eat dinner?

In our family we usually take our dinner around three hours before sleep. According to my grandfather this tradition has been in the family for quite sometime. Different studies have also shown that best time to eat dinner is during evenings than late at night or prior to bed time.

Studies have further focussed that late night dinners were held responsible for growing overweight people because undigested food remains in your body overnight thus building fat and resulting in weight gain. Moreover, our metabolism is also slowest when we sleep. Studies thus suggest that during dinner we should eat moderately generally three hours before we go to bed. For leading a healthy life we should also exercise at least five times per week to control our weight.

Hi, @renaldob!

Yes. I personally think that the healthy way to eat is to eat at a right time (and right time depends on what you have used to). Like for example, I have used to eating 7am for breakfast, 12pm for lunch and 7pm for dinner. So depending on what time I have eaten my snacks, and how busy I am, I would also adjust. So for dinner, I could eat like between 5pm (earliest) and 7pm. That way, I have longer time to digest if I would choose to have snacks esp. if I have plans on staying up late. But, if you are a mother like me (but I guess you’re not ‘coz your nickname sounds of a male, lol) you should not delay or skip meals because you could easily get sick most esp. if you are breastfeeding. That would be unhealthy for both of you and your baby.

First of all, eat dinner, sleep well, how much to eat according to each specific person's physical condition and individual needs may be, to feel hungry for the degree. @ renaldob The best time to eat dinner is at least 2-3 hours before you go to bed. So if your bed time is 10pm, you should have your dinner between 7-8 pm, so that you give yourself enough time to digest your food and you do not store carbs while you are sleeping. In case you feel hungry after dinner, try eating fruits or vegetables as they are low in calories and high in nutrients. You can also drink a warm glass of milk which will help you sleep peacefully.
