What's the best thing you've ever found at a garage sale?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I actually found a glass clown that used to belong to my great grandma. She had moved and left it behind in the house where the garage sale was at a long long time ago and they apparently hung onto it for awhile. It had her initials carved into the bottom from when she was a little kid. It was awesome! (The house belonged to the parents of the people holding the garage sale and I guess they both had passed within the year prior so they were selling random things...lucky me I guess.)

That's really cool that it belonged to your great grandmother!!! I would have had to passed on the clown, though. This reminds me of a story. When I was kid, my elderly neighbor gave me a clown doll. I had to keep it out because she would come over. When I'd go to bed at night I would put it in the bottom of my closet and through stuff on it, then tie my closet doors shut. When that lady died, I had my mother get rid of the clown. I know that's terrible.

But anyways, I am really happy about your awesome find!

One time I was with my Mom and we were perusing through some kids books for my son. I pulled one out and said to my Mom, "Look, this was my favourite book when I was a kid." I opened it to see the condition and on the front cover was a birthday greeting to me from my aunt when I was four years old. My mom and I burst out laughing, as she had sold it at a gargae sale of her own, years before. Needless to say, we bought it for a bargain 10 cents.

I found this summer a great and cheap bicycle with sturdy tires. I am happy that I found it
It was sold by two nice Ukrainian speaking elders.

Found a "Little People" dollhouse for my daughter for $5 last year. We gave it to her for Chrismas and she plays with it every day. She's only 18 months old, she gets so many gifts from relatives we weren't going to get her anything, but stumbled on this find, and she loves it.

We were going to just wrap up some tupperware or some pine needles - those are her favorite things in the world to play with, but we went with the dollhouse instead.
