What's the best Nintendo Wii game for a guy in his mid-30s?

Just got a Will and want more games for it. Some of the games take too long to learn and others are very simple. I grew up loving Burger Time, Super Mario Brothers. What Wii games do you suggest? I know I can download classic games, but I'm looking for a new game to really capture my interest and show off the best aspects of the Wii.
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

If you like to play with friends (online or not) then I would suggest Mario Kart Wii.

Agreed, if you enjoy online gaming then Mario Kart is fantastic - it's the game I've played most on the wii and it is the online part of it (rather than the standard single player) that keeps me coming back for more.

Two games that will help you release a lot of steam

1. Resident Evil 4 (the Wii edition is even better than the Gamecube/PS version)

2. No more heroes (Slick and sarcastic ... one of the Wii's most mature titles)

I'd agree with No More Heroes, it's a game with style, gore, action, and humor beautifully blended together. It's a beam-em-up game that's fun to play, and has a bad attitude.

Twilight Princess is another great buy, it's an amazing game. The controls are fun and easy to get used to, so it's both challenging but easy to pick up.

Sounds like you like charming and fun platformers! I would suggest you take a look at the newly released "de Blob" which has nice graphics with original gameplay and objective told in a smart and funny story, or have some nostalgia with Lego Indiana Jones. You get the creativity of Legos, the coolness of Indy, and the fun of a greatly designed game. I think they've just released a Lego Batman but I've not had the chance to really look at that.

Wii Sports Tennis (a classic) and Super Paper Mario which can be a real revelation for someone in his/her mid-30s. We're old enough to remember the platform games, but Super Paper Mario allows to flip in a surprising way into a 3D world with puzzles and RPG elements.

Super Smash Bros Brawl is a must.

Mario Cart looks fun, and so does No More Heroes.

The game I really recommend is ROCK BAND 2! You can order it now on Amazon.com, and it is going to be released in two days on December 18, 2008! It's a great party game that is fun with lots of people, and it's also fun to play by yourself. People in their 30s will love the music!

The absolute best Wii game for gamers, bar none, is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. THE BEST.

Second is Super Mario Galaxy, followed by Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I'm also a big fan of Guitar Hero.

If you like a 3D-platormer, Super Mario Galaxy is awesome and so is Super Paper Mario.

If you like a GREAT puzzler... Zack and Wiki.

No More Heroes. It's one of the bloodiest Wii games, and has a plot like an action film like Kill Bill. It's just good fun and makes good use of the WiiMote as a sword. The boss fights are epic. One of the least kidsy titles on the Wii.

To be honest, I still think Wii sports is the game that best shows off gameplay on the Wii, and as an added bonus, if you play it regularly, it could help stave off that 30s midriff spread.

I'm 32, so this is what I like
Love Galaxy
Love Mario Kart
I've only played a bit of No More Heroes, but I think a 30-something guy would like it.
Just got Guitar Hero World Tour, and although I suck at it, it's a lot of fun, and plus, the equipment works with Rock Band 2, so you can have tons of DLC for that. Lots of great songs from our childhood and teen years.
So far, I haven't found a shooter I like.

You would certainly enjoy Twilight Princess if you have played previous Zelda games. Nostalgia mixed with an amazing Zelda game (arguably as good as Ocarina of Time) full of puzzles, nice graphics, a wolf, an interesting story, motion controls, and plenty of temples.

Super Mario Galaxy. Great graphics and innovative controls for the Wii. It's Nintendo's leading man in his first Wii title adventure. Though the way the camera angle works, you may get a bit dizzy, but you'll eventually get used to it.

If you get no other game for the Nintendo Wii, you have to get Super Mario Galaxy. http://thewiire.com/reviews/post/1324-super-mario-galaxy

Nintendo took a very very long time to release this, and when they did the world realised all that extra time had been spent making it perfect. Just perfect.

Every time you feel you're satisfied with this game, something new comes up to get you curious again. None of the game mechanics ever stick around too long, there's always something new around the corner.

This game alone justifies the existence of the Wii. Buy it, enjoy it, find inner peace. I'll quote the review: "Super Mario Galaxy earns The Wiire's Editor's Choice award because it's easily one of the best reasons to own the console."

I would say either Wii Fit or Excite Truck.

Excite Truck has been out since the system was released and is therefore pretty cheap, however, the game itself is absolutely amazing and will keep you entertained even if you arent a fan of the racing genre. I'm not, and I loved this game.

For a 30-something guy, I would recommend 5 games:

No More Heroes
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Guitar Hero and/or Rock Band (I'll count them as 1 game)
Metroid Prime 3
Madden 09 (I haven't actually played 09 on Wii, but I do have 07 and 08, and the motion controls add a really fun element to the game)

I think the best bang for your buck is Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The game is filled with goodness all over the place. 35 characters to play as, tons of stages/characters/goodies to unlock, a great adventure mode in addition to the normal game, and some of the finer graphics on the Wii.

It also has online play which adds even greater replay value. There's a stage creator and daily updates with nintendo's picks for the better stages. The game is chock full of goodness and possibly the best Wii game available. You'll get the small references to older games too since you played a lot of them.

I'm personally not a fighter fan but this is my favorite Wii game. It looks beautiful and keeps you coming back for more. Simple fighting mechanics that can be studied more closely if you so choose, it's fantastic. Good luck with your decision!

It depends on what your preferences for games are, but your best bets are Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Both are massive and make superb use of the Wii's motion controls, while still harkening back to classic styles of gameplay such as platforming and shooting/adventuring.

If you're looking for something more multiplayer-oriented, you should look into Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a fighting game that has lots of different gameplay modes and makes use of the Wii controls, while leaving the option to use the old Gamecube controller open as well. Plus it's a blast for playing with three friends.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.
