What's the best National Park between San Francisco and Seattle?

There's Yosemite, Redwood, Crater Lake and Olympic and I have time for one, which one should I hit?
Tip for best answer: M$3.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Growing up and camping in the Northern California area, I have been to many of the State Parks between San Francisco and Seattle. I love the drive. Take the longer route and use Hwy 1 if you can.

If you like the ocean, there are many parks that cover the beach and low lands. You'll see many of them if you take the coastal route.

If you want to climb a mountain, I would pick Lassen State Park.

If I were to give you only one suggestion that is the most unique, special and alluring, I would have to say Redwood National Park.

But if you are a tree lover like I am, you can't miss a quick trip to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. You can stop there first on your way up to the Redwoods.
Looking at pictures of these gigantic trees doesn't do them justice. Just spend an hour or so walking and playing among these giants will give you a new appreciation of how big the world really is.

I hope I have helped you make a decision. No matter which State Park you pick, you're guaranteed to have a blast!

Gifford Pinchot National forest if you are interested in viewing Johnston Ridge Observatory, where Mt. St. Helen's blew up!

The effects of the 1980 blast still remain. The treeline of lost timber is dramatic. Ash abounds in the distance. It looks like another world. Like a strangely brush inhabited moon!

Mt. Rainier National Park is a great place to go. I climbed and hiked around that area and it is beautiful and a fun half/full days adventure!!!
