What's the best Caribbean cruise line for a group of adults (ages 25-50)?

Tip for best answer: M$10.20
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I can only speak from personal experience. I went to the Bahamas on a Carnival Cruise with a large group of people. It was very clean, very nice friendly staff, great food and honestly I had no complaints what so ever. There was always something fun to do. In all honesty, I enjoyed being on the ship more than I did the Bahamas. I think it's fairly cheap, but I think you really have to take inconsideration the ship. Each line has different ships that differ in size and rank.

Worst part of my cruise was Nassau. I hated it there. You couldn't even walk 2 feet without being begged to buy something. It's very commercial, and not a good place for relaxing.

I have a friend that takes at least 2 cruises a year. She has used about all the cruise lines you can think of. She swears by Royal Carribean to Cozumel as her all time favorite. She says Cozumel is so much better than the Bahamas.

*Take in consideration if anyone gets really motion sick, the larger the vessel, the less you feel it move.

We sailed Royal Caribbean for our honeymoon in March of 1994, and it was awesome! We stopped at Haiti, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and The Bahamas. We didn't have the least expensive cabin, but close to it, and even so they treated us like VIPs. There was skeet shooting off the deck of the Sovereign of the Seas during sea days! The ship was fabulously opulent and immaculately clean. The shows were spectacular. The food was what I wrote home about!

I'm glad you have fond memories, but a 15 year old review is not likely to be dependable, is it?
Alas, I have not seen skeet shooting on any cruise in recent years, for example.

Those are the top ships, all of the ones ending with "of the Seas" are Royal Caribbean however so they're a good bet.

Royal Carribean from my experience, Norwegian then Carnival. Of course it also depends on your budget as well as your destination, duration of cruise and the cruise ship the group will be sailing on. Royal Carribean's Oasis of the Seas is currently the worlds largest cruise ship and is due to arrive at the homeport of Port Everglades, FL on November 13, 2009. RC Voyager of the Seas is formerlery the largest in its fleet which first took sail in 1999.

I have gone on Caribbean cruises on Carnival, Norwegian, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity. It makes a difference what ship you are on as well as which line. I have only traveled with groups on Carnival and Holland America.

To tell the truth, I like them all and am more influenced by the itinerary and departing port.

Holland America is definitely for older passengers. Norwegian currently has the most flexible dining scheme.

I would suggest, on the whole, Carnival for a group in the 25-50 range. They are not aiming as young as they used to and that should be about right.

My main complaint about all the cruise lines is that they don't pay enough attention to good beer. Rarely have I found any draft beer, and the bottles and cans are at best old standard imports. At the destination ports, the best beer can be found in Jamaica and Belize.

I really like Royal Caribbean - Nice ships, great food & entertainment.

I've been on about 10 cruises, and they have been the best by far.

If you can't find sailings on Royal, Princess offers similar routes and experiences for similar prices.

I would avoid Carnival if you are looking to get away from swarms of children, as they are a more family-oriented line. Other things you may want to avoid are ships that have 'flex dining', where you can choose to eat where and when ever you want. I personally find that having a set time and table in a main dining room is great, especially for groups so you can all catch up on the days events, and enjoy a great meal together.

Before you book, choose a sailing using the cruise line's website, then call their group department and get a rate quote. Then check sites like hotwire.com and vacationstogo.com (Best to call them for groups) and compare the rates. Often times they will each offer different incentives like shipboard credits to persuade you to book with them.

In my experience most cruises are geared towards adults, and generally over-thirty adults at that, as they are not the cheapest vacations. Of course there are some people with kids too, but older couples and groups seem to predominate.

Most of them are also suitable for adult groups, as they have big tables where you can eat together, activities you can sign up for according to taste, onboard nightclubs and casinos and the the like.

I haven't sampled them all by any means, but I suspect most of the major lines are pretty good and you won't be disappointed.

Personally I think Royal Caribbean is very good, but Celebrity is a cut above - and charges accordingly!

Btw, I made a page on Caribbean Cruise Deals some time ago. No-one much visits it seemingly, but you'll find some good links.

Royal Caribbean is a good choice for a group of adults aged 25-50. There are children, but not in an overwhelming number. Activities are many and varied.

Royal Caribbean ships have a middle-of-the-road mix of passengers in terms of age, education, culture interests, and bank accounts. Food is not gourmet, but neither is it lackluster. Passengers party, but not to an excessive degree.

Forbes Traveler rates Royal Caribbean Cruises as having the best on board entertainment of any cruise line. This may be important when planning for a group of adults 25-50.
