What's the best animated character of all time? Why is that one so great?

Are you a big Bugs Bunny fan or more of a Grinch lover? How about Snoopy, Ariel, Homer, Scrat, Mulan, Po the Panda or Popeye? Old or new, convince us that your choice is the best!

Here is a list of 50 possibilities to consider:

My favorite cartoon character of all time? He may be a relative newcomer compared to some of the classic examples, but I select Bloo from The Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. He is who he is. Irreverent, selfish, a practical joker, glutinous, calculating and conniving. He is honest on camera and off. Sadly, one cannot say the same about other cartoon characters.

Mickey Mouse had a huge scandal back in 1931, one so vile, so disgusting involving 2 cows, one raccoon tail, 2 trashed hotel rooms, and the mysterious death of a prostitute, that it actually rivaled the Fatty Arbuckle scandal of a decade or so before. This of course was never made public, as Walt Disney greased the wheels of justice to spring the mouse and keep it on the hush-hush.

Popeye had that incident back in 1940, while suffering what we would now term as roid-rage, he beat a guy to death with a cue stick at some pool hall. (Yes, roid rage. You didn't actually think those forearms were just from exercise did you?)

Yosemite Sam? The largest smuggler of heroine into the US back in the late 40's and early 50's.

Donald Duck? A hit man and general enforcer for Lucky Luciano and Meyer Lansky. It is said that he was the one to pull the trigger on Bugsy Siegel.

Betty Boop? She was actually a cross dressing male. She, or rather he, ran a house of ill repute back in the roaring 20's.

Tom and Jerry? Communists!! Both of them!

Foghorn Leghorn? A flagrant, unapologetic racist. He actually ran for Congress in 1954 on a platform based on preserving segregation.

Yes, Bloo is definitely the best of all time. Always real, never phony.

This is a conundrum? "A conundrum is a confusing, perplexing or awkward predicament. "

You are confused, perplexed, or feeling awkward about "What's the best animated character of all time? Why is that one so great?"

This is more of a random question fit for a forum than a conundrum. I used to be more interested in the situations this website posed; this is simply irrelevant and brings down the caliber of the posts on this site. You might as well make this a simple forum site where people can argue over ridiculously unimportant things.

Bugs Bunny is my all-time favorite. He combines an attitude of supreme confidence, complete obliviousness to what he doesn't want to notice (including his own vast ignorance), incredible luck protecting him from his enemies and, almost more importantly, from himself, as well as always having the perfect come-back line.

Bugs Bunny's lovable nature makes him the perfect character to root for in any tough spot his writers put him in, and even when he's in the wrong, you cannot but cheer him on anyway. As Bugs always says, chewing on a carrot, "Mmmnnnaaahhh, what's up doc?"

Clearly, you people are forgetting to consider disney villains...Gaston is the the greatest.

He's obnoxious, conceited, and physically built in a such a way that an actual human, in their quest to look like him, would die. The exception, of course, being Arnold Schwarzenegger.

And yet...

The hyperbole that surrounds his character leads to some of the most ridiculous (and hilarious, I might add) lines in a Disney film.

Also, he has a side-kick.

Mickey Mouse.

Why is the Mouse #1?

1) Recognition, the mouse is easily one of the most widely known animated characters

2) He has amusement parks.

3) Kingdom Hearts - the Final Fantasy Disney crossover that had lots of gamers scratching their heads, until they played the game. . . and it turned out to be FANTASTIC.

Oh, so many...too many to pick just one in my opinion. All the classic Disney characters like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, etc. were all so orininal for their time. Then we have all the Warner Bros. characters like Bugs, Porky Pig, Tweey & Sylsvester, Road Runner..the list goes on. One of my all time favorite is Scooby Doo. And then we have The Flintstones and all the Dr. Suess characters..all of whom were created long before Pixar came along. OK, I'm ready to be 8 again, snuggled up in front of the console TV on Saturday morning in my favorite pajamas with a bowl of Captain Crunch in front of me. :)
