What's on your iPod?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

All kinds of things. If you knew what's on there, you'd know me really well! Even better if you could see the whole of what's in iTunes, not just what's currently synced.

Especially as it's an iPod Touch with more than just music. So what's on there is this...

Music:

Beatles, Kinks, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, R.E.M, and lots more.

And some classical - Mozart, Stravinsky, Elgar and more.

Podcasts:

Entrepreneurship talks from Stanford Business School, via iTunes U
Assorted current affairs, public policy, social entrepreneurship radio & podcasts
Philosophy lectures on Martin Heidegger, from Berkeley, via iTunes U
Time interviews with Natalie Portman, Buzz Aldrin, Woody Allen

Videos:

A video of a talk on microfinance
Vids of my family, esp nieces and nephew

Apps include:

Stanza ebook reader. With 50 books from Sherlock Holmes to Anna Karenina.

iFooty - soccer news app

Chess app

NY Times

Bloomberg

Twitter apps

Eeep, you now know more about me than some of my friends. :)

Podcasts, lots and lots of podcasts. I prefer to listen to music on my good speakers and headphones, so I keep my iPod loaded up with podcasts, which don't need good speakers to enjoy. I do occasionally toss a random album or two on, which currently is "You Turn Me On" by Beat Happening, "Float" by Flogging Molly, and "Flowers on the Porch" by Gavin Fury.

I have almost filled up my 8 GB iPod, something I thought I'd never do. Here are some of the highlights:
I have the complete collection of the Beatles - everything on this page:
http://www.thebeatles.com/core/music/
It's 588 songs in all. Currently I have more Beatles songs than every other song combined. I'm trying to even that out.
I have the complete collection of the Traveling Wilburys - not quite the accomplishment as they only released two albums.
I also have the complete collection of the Rutles (minus four tracks released exclusively in Japan). They too released only two albums.
I have nearly the complete collection of Cream, which I got by downloading their album "Those Were the Days" which features almost all of their songs.
Other albums I have (and would recommend): Dark Side of the Moon, Animals, Wish You Were Here, The Wall (all by Pink Floyd), Led Zeppelin IV, John Lennon's Imagine, Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, and Bringing It All Back Home, and Blue Oyster Cult's Agents of Fortune.

Almost all techno / dance music, a few podcasts, and a few videos. I also have a lot of import tracks not in English, such as Aquagen's Partyalarm - just because I like them and stuff just totally off the wall, like Günther.

Aquagen Link goodness:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVsm5M5HET0

Günther SFW link goodness:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPrnduGtgmc

Unfortunately, the screen cracked on it a week ago, making it a nice $400.00 60 gigabyte USB drive now. :(

I'd get a replacement, but there's four problems:

1 - Not in the budget right now.
2 - Last time I had money in the budget, I couldn't find the iPod touch I wanted ANYWHERE WITHIN 100 miles!
3 - I'm not home during the day to get it delivered and sure don't trust the slumlord, er, landlord to sign for anything like that.
4 - I'm not allowed personal packages deliveries at work.

Oh well. I guess I can't be cool at work anymore. No iPod, and I use PC's.

I have music from a wide variety of rock bands on my iPod. As you can imagine, I do not care for rap and hip hop that much. But I do enjoy some of the songs on the Billboard Top 100. You can go to their website to see the songs that make it on that list. Here are some of the bands I enjoy:

311, 3 Doors Down, A Day to Remember, Airbourne, Anew Revolution, Armor for Sleep, Army of Anyone, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Bad Religion, Blink-182, Buckcherry, Bullet for My Valentine, Bush, Coldplay, Daughtry, David Cook, Def Leppard, Disturbed, Doubledrive, Dragonforce, Egypt Central, Everclear, Finger Eleven, FOO FIGHTERS, From First to Last, Goo Goo Dolls, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Guns N' Roses, Hinder, Hollywood Undead, Hoobastank, Jet Black Stare, Joe Satriani, Journey, Led Zeppelin, Limp Bizkit, LINKIN PARK, Live, Lostprophets, Metallica, Motley Crue, Motorhead, New Found Glory, Nirvana, Oasis, Papa Roach, Pearl Jam, Puddle of Mudd, Queens of the Stone Age, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rev Theory, RISE AGAINST, Saliva, Seether, Shiny Toy Guns, Slipknot, Social Distortion, SR71, Stone Temple Pilots, Sum 41, The Black Crowes, The Exies, The Flys, The Killers, The Offspring, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Strokes, Third Eye Blind, Three Days Grace, Trust Company, Velvet Revolver, and Wolfmother.

If you have some free time, check out some of these bands. I especially encourage you to check out the bands in all capital letters. They are my favorites : )

Check out http://www.playlist.com/ to listen to full songs from bands for ABSOLUTELY FREE! I hope I helped; have a great day!!!

I have the video iPod, so it comes with the four standard games (Solitaire, Music Quiz, Parachute, and Brick). I also have the movies Euro Trip, Transformers, etc. I have everything from Lost, everything from Numbers, and numerous other shows. Some of the bands I missed earlier were Bob Marley, the Beatles, Dinosaur Jr, Santana, Pink Floyd, The Pretenders, REM, and much more. Podcasts include everything scientific in iTunes U.

I would also look out for a new band recently formed. It has the potential to be bigger that Led Zeppelin. The band's name is Chickenfoot, and includes some of the best people in rock: Michael Anthony (bass), Sammy Hagar (vocals), Joe Satriani (guitar), and Chad Smith (drums). Some of those names should ring a bell.
