What's in Store for Libya now? Will Ghadafi continue to Rule, or will he lose his grip on the Nation?

Things are going from bad to worse in Libya. Many foreign people who are working in Libya are waiting to be evacuated. Ghaddafi has stated he will not step down. What is written in the Green Book? Will there be terrible bloodshed in the next few days, or will he stifle the Revolution?

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

First of all, he's clearly insane.(1)(2)(3) Who would have thought...

Basically, the Libyan government seems to be falling apart(4) and there's a lot more political pressure from other governments on Libya than there was either on Egypt or Tunisia, where the US and Europe were mere witnesses.(5)

Gaddafi is falling faster than his Tunisian and Egyptian counterparts and is loosing support from the military and close collaborators. Top officials are joining the opposition, including "the man considered the colonel's number two, Interior Minister Abdel Fattah Younes al-Abidi".(6) Also, a fatwa has been issued encouraging Libyan soldiers to kill Gaddafi.(7) Someone close to him already tried to kill him but missed(8) and Gaddafi not only ordered his soldiers to kill protesters, but killed some soldiers who refused to follow his orders,(9) which will backfire for sure, since his soldiers don't seem to be very loyal to him: after they were ordered to bomb their fellow Libyans, two pilots fled to Malta(10) and two more crashed their airplane(11), which I guess is one of the coolest ways to protest against something.

The Green Book,(12) according to Wikipedia, was "published in 1975, outlining his views on democracy and his political philosophy"(13). According to the Encyclopaedia Britannica online, "From 1974 onward Qaddafi espoused a form of Islamic socialism as expressed in The Green Book. This combined the nationalization of many economic sectors with a brand of populist government ostensibly operating through people’s congresses, labour unions, and other mass organizations".(14)

I think there will be more violence in the next few days, that will gradually lower until Gaddafi looses all support and has to flee, commits suicide or is imprisoned.
