Aside from Asian foods, what else is there to see and do in China Town? Is it safe to go down there at night?

New York City's Chinatown can be found basically in the Canal St, Mott St, Mulberry St area and is considered a working class neighborhood. Chinatown offers tons of shops and street vendors selling all sorts of stuff including mountains of souvenirs. This is where you will find all those designer knock offs so it pays to be careful. There's not much else to do there except shop and eat.
If your hungry, there are an abundance of restaurants to choose from. You can even get yourself a plate of cow intestines for dinner if you have a craving for them. You can get traditional Chinese food like you would find in Shanghai or you can get the stuff you buy the American Chinese restaurants like Beef & Broccoli or Chow Mein.
If you are worried about safety, it is probably best to not go there late at night. During the day, it is extremely crowded and pickpocketing and purse snatching are entirely possible. Be aware of your surrounding and the people around you and you can stay safe.
