What's a unique gift I can get my groomsmen?

I'm getting married in August and want to give each of my groomsmen a gift, as is traditional. However, all of the traditional gifts--flasks, cufflinks, tie tacks, shot glasses, cigar cutters, blah blah blah--bore me. What should I get them?

I'm on a budget and looking to spend around $50 per groomsman.
Tip for best answer: M$3.00

I would make the gifts individul to each groomsmen. Take something that each of them likes and be creative with the gift, this will mean more to them than something they put on a shelf and forget about. Maybe you could make the gift around a certain event in your friendship with that person.

The last wedding I was in, the groomsmen each received a small token gift and a Bottle of their favorite alcohol.
The token gift I received was a Swiss Army Rally knife which easily fits on the keychain. http://www.swissarmy.com/MultiTools/Pages/Product.aspx?category=everyday&product=54021
I still use mine, but I know some ended up in drawers or re-gifted.
http://www.smartknives.com/Victorinox-Knives/Victorinox-Knife-Images/Victorinox-Rally-Lg.jpg

and the bottle was my favorite, Johnny Walker Black. The host went on Johnny Walkers website and had a personalized label made. Some manufacturers offer this service for free.

http://www.2uan.com/_xanga/070118_black.jpg

Considering the knives can be bought in bulk (qty 5 or more) for less than $10, that leaves plenty of room for a nice bottle of something. Also, most liquor stores are privately owned and therefore will be happy give a price break for quantity- if not shop around- people are hungry in this economy. Since its in August, you have plenty of time to get personalized labels made if the brand offers it.. another neat idea would be to get a small sampler pack of their favorite brands. Small bottles (think airline sized) can be had for about $2-5 each and often can be found (on the net) packaged in gift box sampler packs.

Of course, give this to them AFTER the reception. or before the wedding as there's a good chance the bottles won't make if out of the reception alive..

Your friends are as unique as you are, and their gifts should be too. Anyone can give a money clip or a bottle opener. Just think about the friend's personalities and let the ideas flow. For example, at my wedding: My stoner friend got a hand-blown glass pipe. My artist friend got a rosewood pen & pencil set laser etched with his personal logo & my actor friend got a marionette in his own image.

The only one of those that's commercially available is the company that does the laser etching, & they did a great job at a reasonable price if you need anything of the sort http://www.lazerdesigns.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=wedgroomsmen

But don't sweat it too much. The day is ultimately about you, and these gifts are a thank you to someone who means alot, but it shouldn't be harder than shopping for the ring.

I would go with the 2 liter as well, if I was the marrying kind. But that would be a little overbudget at $67 and the company happened to do a better illustration of their engraving on the $37 1 liter size.

+1 for the boot of glory. Excellent idea. If I was getting married again, I would "class it up" and everyone would receive one of these.

Although, I would get the taller, skinner version (traditional) of the boot. The shorter, fatter one (pictured above) proves to be less of a challenge.

I once was given a customized suit that was already fitted for me when I was a groomsman for my brother-in-law and I thought that was pretty thoughtful. It came in handy because 1) 1 less suit to buy, 2) I used it quite often, 3) they look real nice. It seems like generally when you are a groomsman, that is around the time when you need suits/don't really have a lot of suits. But yeah, it might go over 50 bucks each. Maybe a 50 buck gift card to bestbuy? heh and yes I'm somewhat into tech stuff, but yeah, not a cool gift that has something to do with a wedding, not serious enough.
Maybe a really nice picture frame with a nice pic of the groom and groomsmen? (points for unique?)

Other then that here is my top item on my wish list.
nice watch
nice wallet (this isn't a bad idea actually?)
nice cologne

hope this helps

USB Memory Watch
In addition to displaying the time, this watch helps you carry your valuable data with you at all times (you know - your MP3 files, favorite images, your ThinkGeek shopping list). With either 2GB or 4GB or 8GB of capacity it has more than ample storage space.

Do they golf? You could get a gift card for a round of golf and a few golf balls/tees, and put it all in a basket/box.

Or a nice set of beer glasses.

These look neat too:
Personalized vintage style bar/pub signs
http://www.roundtablegifts.com/vistpepubsi.html

http://www.americanbridal.com/personalized-pub-signs.html

Or personalized bottle of liquor

Crown Royal does the labels for free, you buy the bottle
http://www.crownroyal.ca/?cm_mmc=G2-_-redirect-_-us-_-ipdetect

and this site does it for some brands too, for a fee
http://www.yourgiftlabel.com/overview.php

Another idea would be a bbq set - stainless steel tools, maybe some seasonings, etc... for the grill

Also, you don't have to buy every guy the same thing. You could buy them each something different that they would like, I would just spend around the same amount on each gift. For example get them something to do with their individual hobbies.

A Swiss Army Knife might be a unique gift.
This one is called the "Trekker" and at $52.00 usd it might be on the higher side of the budget but there are many models to choose from.

Buy them here.

I would give them decorative replica (real ones would be too expensive) katana blades. They come with their own sheath and sometimes with a decorative wooden display holder.

Very classy, very beautiful, very unique! Groomsmen gifts Kill Bill style!

I also did the knife gift. When you walk into a knife shop/cutlery store, you quickly realize that knives are jewelery for men. Women like necklaces, men like knives.

I got a few buck knives with the industrial looking brushed stainless steel finish. they felt good to hold in the hand, and it felt great to snap it open. I think my groomsmen enjoyed the gift.

I have been thinking about this too, since I'm getting married next year. Everyone seems to have already thrown out the Swiss Army Knife idea which is ok but way too common I guess, but I've seen some other ones.

The one I saw that seemed like it might be a cool idea and considering going with is a custom engraved Zippo lighter. They're not that expensive but I think it might be a neat keepsake for someone to have. They're not expensive, but the thing that got me is the space limitations, you only get something like 12 or 15 characters which could be a problem. But maybe their initials?

Get them boxer shorts with some kind of design that reflects your personality, wedding theme or ....for example if you are getting married at the beach...choose a Palm Tree or surfboard print....or if you and your pals like to go hunting, get them a hunting theme or if you just hang out and drink...try some boxers with an alcohol theme print with little wine glasses, beer bottles,etc...or if you like a certain sports team...there is a boxer for that. You should be able to google search any theme . Both Old Navy and PacSun have some great prints. Please! Try wackyplanet.com for some great options in personalized underwear. Add in a gift card for a local restaurant so you can all be sure to have a guys night out soon after the honeymoon. Believe me, You will be looking forward to telling them all about it.

Don't get the something that will collect dust on the shelf. Get them something that you think they will use and enjoy in the future.

threadless.com has lots of very unique shirts. Try to match their personality with the shirt and include a handwritten note that says why and maybe mentions some memory you have of them.

You could also include some type of food that they normally wouldn't get.

And while it might seem weird you can't go wrong with a really nice towel. The big soft fluffy kind that has their initials on it. Most people use one towel until it falls apart.

Here is one example from Bed Bath and Beyond.
