What's a nice small fuel efficient pick up truck?

I'm not looking for anything new, just something small and not too expensive with fairly good gas mileage.
I know nothing about cars...

thanks :]
Tip for best answer: M$1.00

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Toyota Tacoma was rated most satisfying by Consumer Reports, based on whether their owners would buy them again if they had the choice. The 2007 models get 26 and 25 for the 2.7 liter engine with two wheel drive.

Trucks don't get much smaller than a Ford Ranger. Are you sure you want a pickup?

Ford used to make a truck called a "courier" that predates the Ranger, but they're no longer made. It was a bit smaller than the ranger.

I've had 2 couriers, an Isuzu pickup, and I have a Ranger now. I've also owned a Toyota Tacoma. The 2 wheel drive Tacoma has a smaller "feel" and it sits a little lower, but it's not really smaller. The one in the photo from the other answerer is either a 4 wheel drive or has a body lift.

Mazda's SE5 was about the same size as a courier, but also like the courier, it's no longer in production.

Isuzu no longer builds trucks of any kind in the US.

Chevrolet's littlest truck is also no longer made, but was even smaller than the Courier.

If you want an older used truck, I suppose you could find a Courier or an SE5, but it's unlikely that you'll find a courier with Air Conditioning or even Power Steering.
