whats a green tip?

in mahalo
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you look at your avatar or picture, you will see a green tip. There is some magic number that you reach as you go up toward the next level in points. Then it shows up as a colored tip on your color belt for the next level. Wonder how they are going to do that for different levels of black belts - no one is that high yet.

about the Mahalo "green" team:
Another way to give a green tip is to join the Mahalo answers Kiva group to give earnings from tips to others in developing countries etc. as a repayable loan for small business, then the tip can be recycled again and paid to another person and so on as it is repaid. Link to info

A third way you can give a "green tip" in Mahalo is to recycle tips that you receive in Mahalo dollars and give them back to others by either tipping people for their answers, or asking a question with a tip. There has been discussion about what is an appropriate amount to give back to the Mahalo Answers community and there are people giving various amounts back into the community all the time rather than taking all of their money earned in payment. When you keep Mahalo money within the system, there is no administration fee so a dollar stays a dollar and the money stays "green" as no paper is produced, no trees are cut down, the electronic money just flows from person to person. There may be something else but that is all I heard of.

It means your on your way to getting a green belt. You're still a yellow belt, yet closer to green belt. A few more questions, hard work, and dedication to Mahalo Answers will help you earn your green belt! Keep up the great work, vigneshnm!

It possibly has more than one meaning, but I would define a green tip as being advice having to do with the environment and earth friendly topics, such as recycling, reducing waste, etc
