What's a good summary for August Wilson's The Piano Lesson?
Also, who were the original cast members, and what roles did they play? Where was the play first produced? Did it win any awards? When did August Wilson write it in his 10-play cycle (what plays came before and after)?
Here are a few pages on Mahalo which give examples of what I'm looking for:
An Ideal Husband
Angels in America
The Chairs

Wilson's 10-play cycle began with ''Gem of the Ocean'' and concluded with ''Radio Golf.'' ''Ma Rainey's Black Bottom'' and ''Seven Guitars'' are the "bookends" for ''The Piano Lesson.'' This article from the ''San Diego Union-Tribune'' offers a fantastic timeline, so you can really see the progression of each of the plays:

M$Set in Pittsburgh in 1936, Boy Willie battles his sister Berniece over the future of a treasured heirloom: a piano, carved with African-style portraits by their great grandfather, an enslaved plantation carpenter. He wants to sell it to buy land. She insists that the instrument carries too much family history to cast aside. The issue of whether or not to sell it cuts deeply and raises questions about honoring the past or moving into the future."-Arden Theatre Company
"August Wilson wrote this Pulitzer Prize-winning account of how the poison planted by slavery can still haunt a family, generations later, as two siblings clash over how they will remember and acknowledge their past."-Oberlin College, Department of Theatre and Dance
For a short summery like this find a group that is producing the show. They always need blurbs for pr purposes.
