What's a good pickup line in a supermarket?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If people were robots with on/off switches, then you could just find the switch with the right words and flip it.

On the other hand, if you are looking for conversation openers, without the expectation of a "pickup" happening as a result, but anything including a plain friendship, then either saying something like "Have you tried that the person is holding? Is it good?" or "I never know what to do with those" can open up a conversation that could eventually end in a date, or opportunities for more conversations.

Many people are turned off by obvious pickup lines, so try for a conversation opener like the ones above.

Good answer.

I don't know about pickup lines, but for starting a conversation an open question or asking advice is good. And there's plenty of questions you can ask about food!

The general point of a pick up line is to convey, "I want to talk to you. Do you want to talk to me?" Really "great" ones often sound too contrived. You want to stick with what sounds natural: the prices, the quality, the quantity of the things you are or she is shopping for, or the weather. If you get little back, then she probably doesn't want to chat.

If you're dying to take her out, and your first attempt falls flat, just come clean: "You seem like a nice/cool person, and I'd like to get to know you." Then you could suggest meeting her wherever she would be comfortable and buying her a cup of coffee or dinner or whatever. I've had guys do that to me, and I was flattered. I am also married, so I said no. (You'll want to check for rings. :) )

Try out the following:

1. I've just moved you to the top of my 'To Do' list.

2. I hope I'm on your list of things to pick up today?

3. I don't work at this store, but may I be of assistance to you anyway?

4. You give new meaning to the defintion of 'edible'.

5. Is your name Gillette? ...coz you're the best a man can get.

6. Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?

7. I noticed something about you.
This is a great opener not only because it's totally irresistible (who doesn't want to know what you've noticed about them?) but also because it forces you to be spontaneous about whatever comes next.

Ha! Please be certain to videotape yourself delivering these lines. I must see the reaction you will receive!

as the recipient of way to many pick up lines in supermarkets, i can honestly tell you that none of those would work. women are in the store to shop and not to meet guys. ... maybe those would work in a liquor store ;p
