What's a good gift to send to an office full of people in San Diego?

My work crew just busted their humps covering Comic Con. I would love to send them something lovely (and preferably delicious). I would also like to use a service local to San Diego. I can't send booze (the interns are underage). Thanks!
Tip for best answer: M$5.04
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Being that they are under age I think a huge fruit basket would be a great gift. They cut the fruits out to make them look very fancy and delicious. You could also send along a huge box of fancy chocolates as well.

Iam sure they could make one much bigger than this but this is fancy

So nice to see you @danielle!

@sunshine09: The company that delivers the fruit is called Edible Arrangements. I just wanted to say that I recently tried them, and the chocolate dipped strawberries were to die for!

If I were one of your crew members that was lucky enough to cover Comic Con, here is the reward that in my opinion would bring smiles of appreciation:

A platter of delicious Einstein Bros. Bagels with assorted cream cheese spreads. They offer catering for breakfast or lunch. Check them out at ebcatering.com. Good stuff! They do breakfast or lunch.

An edible fresh fruit platter. Looks fabulous, tastes great -not to mention "healthy".Check out Ediblearrangement.com.

Followed by a BIG BOX of Assorted See's Chocolates - or visit See's and choose from an assortment of fabulous chocolates, nuts, lollipops, candy bars, etc. (Sees.com)

All the above have several locations in San Diego and/or can be ordered over the phone.

I'm not familiar with the San Diego area so I can't recommend any one particular business there. But I do have a suggestion on what to send.
1. A large gift basket filled with a wide variety of snacks. Make sure you cover all tastes from the health conscious to the junk food junkie. (peanuts, trail mix, dried fruits, dark chocolates, white chocolates, pretzels, M&Ms etc.)
2. Catered lunch boxes (our office ordered up a wide selection of 6 inch deli sandwiches, salad, slaw, chips & drinks)
3. Treat everyone to Starbucks and gourmet dessert
4. Catered appetizers and sparkling grape juices/ ciders/ water (oysters Rockefeller, spinach-artichoke dip with tortilla crisps or pita crisps, warm crab dip with crackers, stuffed mushrooms, veggie tray, etc)

Having worked in an office setting for many years, nothing is brightens an otherwise mundane day more than a basket full of food. I have relatives in San Diego, and they recommend San Diego Rose Company. Don't let the name fool you, they don't just deal in flowers.

Depending on how many people you are treating, you may need multiple baskets.

The one that looked particularly amazing to me when I perused their website was the chocolate lover's basket, but to satisfy the tastes of more people, the gourmet basket is probably more appropriate.

If you can't send them booze, send them the next best thing: COFFEE! They get to enjoy coffee for days/weeks depending on how much you send them, and it makes you their favorite person since they come lumbering in exhausted and them BAM! They sniff some luscious coffee and remember that you sent it to them :)

I recommend Gevalia brand. It's not too expensive, but the coffee itself is very quality. I personally like the German Chocolate and Raspberry.

There is a locally know restaurant in Downtown SD called Hob Nob Hill. They have wonderful cakes and pies and I know they do take out and large orders.

http://www.hobnobhill.com/bakery.htm

Special Cakes are also Fun and delicious as a way to show thanks. Considering it's for the Comic Con you could have a Comic book or super heroes theme. Heaven Sent Desserts is a great place in San Diego that makes very awesome "Special Cakes". They also do catering with lots of goodies and sweets to choose from.

"Employee appreciation is a big task. What better way to say "We appreciate you and what you do for our company" than by a very special cake? We provide elegant dessert bars or individual desserts and cakes which can be tailor made to show your company logo or carry your special message, or have our Chef create an impressive and elegant dessert or cake for you."---Heaven Sent Desserts Website

I was a corporate concierge in Downtown DC for over six years--this was my job. I've still got that mojo, though, and I didn't have the help of the Internet in the early 1990s.

It can be anything, including:

-Delicious? After a lot of searching, the nicest gift baskets I've seen are from Givens & Company:
http://conciergestl.webs.com/gourmetgifts.htm
...but they're not local.

So, like I said, I didn't have the advantage of The Internet, but now I do.

I took a look around San Diego and here are some other ideas:

-Tickets to National Comedy Theatre, Ocean Beach Comedy or The Comedy Palace
(I'm not sure if minimum is 21--it might not be. Comedy clubs always go over well.)
(PS: Some comedy clubs comp tickets. You just have to know who to ask.)

You can likely take them on a Taste of San Diego.

I will tell you one thing we used to do for buildings of hundreds or even thousands of people at a time: Find your local Ben & Jerry's and get info on a Scoop Party. To give you an idea of how popular the things were, I supervised 5 people, including myself, but had at least 20 of our buildings within a 4-block walk. Ice-cream was lunch twenty days of six summers!
Find the one closest to you here: http://www.benjerry.com/ Tell them your concierge sent you...it works for almost anything.

In San Diego, you've got these companies: DLS, although they appear to be a limo/transportation company with no concierge services; Essential Concierge, which costs a fortune; and Red Butler. Red Butler seems to be the most reasonable, based on my experience.

And you've just gotten their services for free.

I once nudged a guy who kept walking through a lobby party on a blazing hot day to "Come on, a scoop won't hurt," and I eventually made him break his diet. The person I supervised, whose party it was, turned as what as a ghost. "Oh my God, did you just...do you know who that was?" If I member correctly, it was former US. Congressman, Senator and Presidential Candidate George McGovern, who had an office in the building! He was a fellow at The Institute for Policy Studies at the time, and they may have been in that building. I don't know--it's been more than ten years since I was in that building and 15 since that party..Their current office is only a block away from there.

I'm in the process of building my own site based on my accumulated knowledge of how the concierge industry works, and it's not nearly complete, but this info should get you started.

I'm a former member of the Washington (DC) Area Concierge Association--WACA--and one of the very few who was a corporate concierge as opposed to a hotel concierge.
