Whatever happened to the Crunchpad?

Remind me what exactly happened after all the Crunchpad stories?

Is it a contender in the tablet space, or just a footnote in the tech history books?
Tip for best answer: M$1.01
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The CrunchPad is still alive and kicking, only not by that name any more. The original Crunchpad project was killed, because its two main participants, Techcrunch and Fusion Garage got into a nasty feud on rights. Fusion Garage pulled the plug on the project, and took the development knowledge of the Crunchpad, and created its own product, naming it 'JooJoo'.
The 'JooJoo' was reveiled in December 2009, and was slated for launch in February 2010. However, they had some 'manufacturing issues', and had to postpone the launch a few times.

End of March 2010, the JooJoo was actually launched, and is now available through their website, thejoojoo.com. The product costs $499, which is quite a bit more than the initial target price of $200, when it was still called the CrunchPad.

For now, it is only available in the United States. According to its manufacturer, Fusion Garage, the JooJoo will be available in other countries too, but which countries has not been disclosed yet.

So, actually the original Crunchpad is no more, and a new type of 'Crunchpad' has risen from its ashes, with a new name, and a higher price tag.

OK, I was GOING to say that it was the place that Captain Crunch lived in and that it's just fine and so is Captain Crunch, and besides. Crunchpad. Please. They've come up with some goofy stuff but Crunchpad?

Do you prefer your Crunchpad with a thin slice of Brie and a nice Chardonnay? Can you do 10 Crunchpads at Pilates? Please wipe your feet on the Crunchpad before entering.

To really answer your question, never heard of it, so no clue!
