On 2004 with 14 year of age he became the youngest professional player in US history, when he played for the D.C. United during the game against San José Earthquakes on April the 3rd. With his potential in view many European teams fought to get his services but instead he went to play for the Real Salt Lake at the end of 2006.
In the mean time he got in to a romantic relation with American singer Jo-Jo, they split in September 2006. In 2007 he was finally signed by Benfica from Portugal where he played 11 games. The next year he was traded to AS Monaco.
He played for the AS Monaco Football Club since July 2008 during 10 games (9 League Cup games and 1 Divisional league game) until recently when he again returned to play for Benfica and the Portuguese Liga Sagres championship.
