It looks a bit too 80's Boy-George-ish. Or a bit too 90's boy-band-ish. If you want to give them a nice, clean cut, go with a flat-top. They'll still have the spikes ( if that's what you were shooting for ). It will look cool to their friends, and it won't make them look so effeminate to the rest of their classmates. There's also less chance they'll get beat up in school while sporting a flat-top. If you give them a boy-band haircut, be ready for black eyes, bloody noses, and other assorted trauma. I think you should 'just say no' to the Backstreet Boys look. There's no need to do that to your kids.

It's pretty lame, when he gets to high school the girls will only be able to remember that and he will never get a girlfriend though if you are trying to destroy any future love life then go for it. Sorry to be so blunt but it's the truth.

Gelled hair doesn't look good because its shiny and unnatural. Also, using gel daily may not be a healthy decision for your kids. If you do go with that cut you may want to try hair clay or pomade which won't be as rough on the scalp and will give it a natural look.
