What would you do if you found out that your daughter was pole dancing like Brooke Hogan at the Calle Ocho Festival?

What would you do if you found out that your daughter was pole dancing like Brooke Hogan at the Calle Ocho Festival? How did she get to this place? What, as a parent, would you do to help her get off the pole?

Assuming she is over 18 (which Brooke is) I would actually support her as long as she was doing it in a fun, appropriate way. There is nothing wrong with hitting the pole once in a while. This was done at a festival not some shady bar or lounge where guys are drooling and googling her.

Now if she was over 18 and doing it for a living that would be a different story. I would probably work 5 jobs to help support her so she could go to school and make something out of her life.

If she was underage and doing it at a festival I would again let her do it for fun (maybe not wearing those shorts Brooke did).

If she was underage and doing it at a real bar for money I would drag her home and lock her in her room till she was 18!! :D

Depends on how old she is... If she is 18 or older, I would probably have a sit-down with her and talk to her about what she is getting out of this behavior and is she's really proud of herself (and, if not, how she will do things different).

If she is under 18, I'd be up there dancing with her... naked! If I could mirror how ridiculous she looks, then she might get it. Then I'd yank her home and she'd have some 'splaining to do.

Specifically, it seems like Brooke Hogan is looking for some self-esteem. Look at what she wears. She's definitely looking for some attention. Too bad she doesn't know how to get it appropriately...

Well i do think it depends on the age of the child. If she is under 18, then i could go something about it. I would go and take her home. Then some discipline would be happening. If she is over 18, then i would try to talk with her about what she is doing. Explain that it would not be appropriate and why. Try to talk some sense into her without coming down to hard on her. That might push her and she would do it anyway then.

Whether she was in her late teens or under 18, I'd be taking her and the whole family to a lakeside retreat for a couple of weeks. This is because in my family, we've already spent a lot of time laying the groundwork for self-esteem and self-respect. To deviate so far from that in my daughter's late teens would mean something was seriously wrong, and we'd need some family time to deal with it, possibly with a counselor. That's how MY family would handle it.

However, in her family, it's show business, and ridiculousity packaged as entertainment. It's possible and even likely that this is just par for the course for them, with no concern required. Different families, different values. She's probably not deviating far at all from how her family looks at entertainment.

Folks, it's only one click to see that she will be 21 in a month (May 5). Not only that, she is already an entertainer, a pop singer at that. And, she comes from a wild entertainment family.

Even if all that wasn't true, pole dancing is the least of possible misbehavior, if it's misbehavior at all. In China it is considered a legitimate sport and training regimen like gymnastics (which they are also crazy about). There are a lot of pole-dancing as exercise schools here too.

Another good one with increasing popularity is belly dancing.

Either way, your daughter, if interested in any form of dancing, should be encouraged (even if you are still doing only the quadrille).

I'm surprised at how nice you all are being! If it was my daughter I'd drag her home and give her a good talking to regardless of age! I don't think that kind of behavior is appropriate at all! She's obviously doing it to get attention and she's not getting the good kind of attention.

Well, she's an adult dancing on a pole for attention. Not really worth freaking out about, in my opinion. She's not hurting anyone, including herself. I can't see the point of getting upset.
