Exterminators are expensive and typically their solutions only solve the 'ant invasion' for a few weeks at best.
What I have found that works best over the years is a cheap but effective product called Terro.
Terro is environmentally benign as it is basically just borax mixed with sugar water.It may take a day or two before the ants have carried enough back to their colony to do the job but as long as you make sure to watch you bait station and add a few drops if needed your ant invasion will soon be defeated.
