What would you do if a teacher ordered students to throw things to your kid?

Yup, it really happened. My co-worker in fit of rage told the classmates to throw things at him if they also felt angry for the boy. Of course the classmates did it. The teacher quickly stopped their behavior, she said she didn't really mean it and was in shock to see how quickly the students reacted. The parents accepted the apology from school. But if you were the parents, what would you do?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Regardless of how quickly the school attempts to apologize, I'd have my lawyer draft a particularly angry cease and desist letter. I'd likely also make a website for it online so anyone who wanted to read it could go and have a look. You could also raise awareness about the website by having fliers passed out, but I don't know if I'd actually have the nerve to go that far.

Regardless of how things went with the cease and desist letter, you could also sue everyone involved and offer to settle for $1. No matter what the outcome, it's a great way to get press. In the lawsuit, it would also be worth naming the parents of every kid who allegedly threw something. Even if you drop the suit later and eat the legal fees yourself, it would still be *so* gratifying.

Wow, I am stunned. I have read all of the answers and your replies and it takes my back to a few years ago when I was room Mom for both of my kids at school. My son was in 4th grade and my daughter was in Kindergarten. I helped in her classroom 3 times a week. We had just moved to that area, so it was a new school. I was amazed at how much things had changed in the classrooms since I was a kid. I noticed neither teacher had control of the kids and the bad kids were getting all the attention, while the good kids just sat. It bothered me alot. Then on Halloween, while I was helping in my son's classroom I watched as she was trying to get the kids to be quiet for 25 minutes. They were all talking over her. She finally got control, but later that day a student got mad at her for punishing them with extra homework and he got up, called her a b**** and left the building, not the classroom, the building.

I let the kids finish that year and have homeschooled ever since. I did not feel like my kids were learning in that school and I felt there was no control over the kids. I was an at home Mom doing my best to teach my kids respect and how to behave appropriately, and then they were sitting at school learning the opposite would get them attention. I never in my wildest dreams considered Homeschooling, but my opinion is the school was not safe for my kids.

Your friend should talk to your child and see how they feel. Do they feel safe at school still? This is absolutely horrible and something like this will stay with the child forever.

I would consider changing schools or homeschooling, that is just me.
And for anyone that is reading this that feels their school is great and the best place for their child, more power to you. You may have a wonderful school, I wish we did.

She should what is best for her child and her family, I am so sorry to hear this has happened to them.

Quite honestly, I find myself in "mother bear" mode when I feel that my child was treated unfairly. I would at first be livid. But after a bit of rational thinking would be more concerned about the possibility of other acts that the teacher has or may commit in the future.

First, asking a child to perform a physical act such as that isn't the way I raise my child. I do not believe that the school or the teachers should be able to request things like this. I would never consent to this type of punishment. My first step would be to evaluate the schools discipline procedures. If I felt that they were unfair and against my judgement, I would be looking for a new school.

Second, I would have a meeting with the teacher. I would express my disgust for their actions, and request that disciplinary action be taken against them for their obvious misjudgment.

Lastly, I would tactfully inform them that should my child have to remain in their class, our nect encounter over something like this would not go as well, and they would need to have an attorney or a doctor ready.

I have to admit that I would be terribly upset about the incident. I don't know what he did to make the teacher angry, but it must have been something really bad for her to say that. Kids would jump to do something stupid like that. If only for the fact that they know it isn't right and the teacher is saying to do it.

The teacher asked the student to stand on one leg because he couldn't answer a question. the children got tired and put his feet down and the teacher got upset.

Obviously, this teacher has some serious mental health issues. I believe you should report him/her and not give up on it until something is done. What he did was abuse by proxy, and it not only was harmful to your child, but to the other children by teaching them to do something wrong.

The headmaster knows. As what she did to her, I don't know. But in this strange school, small mistake can get your formal reprimands and bigger mistakes might not, depend on your relationship with your boss, if you know what I mean. So it's out of my hand.

Have the person fired. Maybe throw a brick at them when they weren't looking. You could also file legal charges against them for assualt, conspiracy to assault and child molestation. In this Country anyway.

All other option is good, but throw a brick at them while they weren't looking? Please don't suggest something that is against the law.
