What would have happened at Apple if Steve Jobs had not been forced out as CEO ? Where would Apple be now ?
Would jobs still be CEO ?
Would they still be around ?
Did Next make jobs a better CEO ?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$The "old steve" probably would have stubbornly stayed with the pre-OSX systems or hopefully they would have became what BeOS was.

M$And did NeXT make Jobs a better CEO? Yes, because think of the alternative!! Also, because he had the foresight to realize that if they kept doing more of the same, they would have been stuck where they were.

M$Steve is still a kid and he still sees the computer as a toy/entertainment device. Without him, they might, -just might, have evolved into a machine that is suitable for office use. If they had, without loosing the cool factor, they would have a much larger share of the market today.

Personal experience. Built my first PC from a kit in 1979.

M$Yes, I think they'd still be around, because there are so many people with Macs through their school discount program (very smart move there, so long ago) that know how good they are.
