What would be the greatest advantage of government-run health care?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The parts of the world where we have government run health care look at the US and are amazed at American resistance to this. The benefits are huge- lower infant mortality for a start. All the countries that I know have government run health care have lower infant mortality than the US: UK, New Zealand, Australia, European Union (limited health care and patchy across the union). And my source for this information is not an apologist for socialism but the CIA.

It's a little unnerving to think a bill that will support the funding of abortions will ultimately decrease infant deaths. Maybe that's the sort of thing that makes this country 'great'. Best answer however. ; ]

People can get healthcare benefits in an affordable rate as it is run by government. So poor people will be benefited.

So many to choose from. No more dropping you for pre-existing conditions is a huge one. Lowering premiums and giving coverage to 32 million more Americans is pretty sweet too. How about lowering the cost of coverage and the national debt? People say we can't afford this but we can't afford NOT to do it. Either we insure people that can't afford health care or they go to the ER and we end up paying for them anyway and paying more! Look at who hates the bill. Health insurance companies. You think they're looking out for you or their stockholders? Who else hates it? Republicans who obviously hate anything Obama offers. Medicare, social security, civil rights....all were a tough sell but who would look back now and say those were bad bills? There is no such thing as perfect health care bills. But we pass this one and build on it, LIKE EVERY OTHER PROGRAM IN AMERICA.
