British Empire -
The British Empire was still in its earliest days. Under the guidance of Elizabeth 1, the already growing English power emerged as an Empire as it expanded trade and the founding of the East India Company. The English also began to focus on colonizing America, thereby increasing the reach of its influence into the New World.

M$The Chinese empire of the time was the largest in the world as China was such a large and populous country. During the first half of this century it was ruled by the Ming Dynasty, but in 1644 the Manchu invaded and established the Qing dynasty that would last until 1911.

The Mughal Empire in India included almost all of the Indian subcontinent and bordering areas. It was an unusual mix of Timurid heritage, Persian culture, Islamic conquest and Hindu people.

The Ottoman Empire began the century on the offense and threatened Europe; but, it met its two great defeats at the naval battle of Lepanto and the land battle of Vienna which began its long decline.

The Hapsburg Empire is a way to describe the combined Kingdoms of Spain and Portugal, which two had already conquered much of the New World and had lands and islands along the coast of Africa and in the Far East, and other Hapsburg lands including most of Italy and southern and eastern Germany. Of the Empires of the period, the Hapsburgs were the only one to be global in scale.

The Dutch could also possibly be considered an empire despite being a Republic and having its colonies held by commercial companies. But it was almost entirely a naval power and held small coastal strips and islands.

The British were only beginning their world spanning colonies at this time. Toward the end of the century the Russian Empire began to take shape, although it was not considered such until 1721.

M$I still argue that Britain was an Empire by the 17th century. Though certainly not the largest or greatest Empire during that era, they were formidable and held a vast amount of power and influence in Europe.
I recommend you for the AoTD contest.
I voted this answer as "Best Answer," although the choice was tough. It came down to this answer's establishing, at the outset, the definition of the word "great" and proceeding with that definition. The area of contention between the two most thorough answers appears to be the British Empire. However, this answer anticipates this issue by clarifying why the British Empire could not yet be considered great per the established definition of the term. My only criticism is the illegibility of the graphic used for the Hapsburg Empire. Otherwise, well done!
Respectfully,
Shin
By 1800 the empire was in shambles.

M$hi,albanian but i not said exactly i also said ABOUT that means which you said.
Look at a globe, not just a map of Europe and the Middle East.
While the Ottomans reached their height during this period, they were not the most powerful as they received the two critical defeats during this period, at Lepanto and Vienna. As for "half of total world", look at the map. They controled part of the middle east, part of North Africa, and the Balkans. It was a large empire but a very small portion of the world.
