What were the most disappointing movies of the decade?

It always happens - the world eagerly anticipates the next "awesome" film, only to be shot down by it's completely unexpected awfulness. What movies really hit you hard during this past decade?

By the way matrix is one of the best series ever the beauty in the matrix is not about action but understanding the message in it.

I agree with Matrix! It was an outstanding movie!

I would agree entirely with your statement about the Matrix, but only in relation to the first one. That was a film with a perfect balance between ideas/message and action. This was completely lost however in the overblown drawn out battle scenes in the last two installments.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
George Lucas, not content with poisoning our love of Star Wars with his god awful prequels, had a large hand in creating this. Fail.

The Da Vinci Code
An overhyped bore of a movie.

The Matrix Reloaded & The Matrix Revolutions
The first Matrix was ground breaking and original. The sequels are best forgotten.

Here is my top 3:

1 Rambo: - Because I really think some actors should know when it's time to step back.

2. 10.000 B.C - Because the movie followed the same story-line like Apocalypto...and failed to approach that movie.

3. The Incredible Hulk. Worst story ever!

I work at a movie theater, and to be honest, the movie that was recognized as one of the BIGGEST fails I have ever seen was Meet Dave.

It lasted a whopping 4-5 days in theaters, and I swear to god I sold about 10 tickets max to it. I never got a chance to see it myself, but I know by the sales that it was a GIANT failure.

Well if you're talking Eddie Murphy movies of the last decade lets not forget "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" which "In absolute terms, made the largest financial loss of any movie to date, with a budget of $100 million and a total US gross of $4.41 million". Not really a disappointment though, which the question asks for.

Not trying to make you reconsider your opinion, just adding another failure to the list of Eddie Murphy's output of the last decade. I'm sure no-one was disappointed that either Daddy Day Care or Pluto Nash were rubbish. Just disappointed that they exist in the first place.

I'm pretty sure this is an opinionated question, and that is my opinion. I'm not really sure why or how your trying to rebut that...

Make a clear and concise rebuttal if you really want me to reconsider my opinion, I'd be glad to hear!

I'll go one step further and nominate a most disappointing director of the decade. Uwe Boll, anyone? You know, the guy who guarantees that video games NEVER make good movies. Examples:

-Alone in the Dark
-Bloodrayne and Bloodrayne 2
-Far Cry
-In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

Then again, after his first couple tries, we kinda knew how the rest of them would be, so it may not count as *disappointing*.

As for single movies, Ecks vs Sever and 10,000 BC are definitely on my list, as are Epic Movie, Date Movie, Disaster Movie, and What-Other-Genre-Can-We-Ruin Movie.

The one that stands out to me was:

A.I -it was long and boring and the storyline lacked depth

And a more recent one for me was Twilight ( I know a lot of people may not agree with me but this is my opinion)- I thought the acting was bad and the makeup on the vampires was odd it did not make them look pale but creepy...

I would say "Harry Potter" series.

The book was such a great success at the time. And every year, when a new book in the series is released, fans purchase another full set of it.

Personally, I have even purchased the DVD for the first 3 movies, however, no matter how hard I try, I fall asleep every time I attempt to watch the entire movie n 1 go.

For Harry Potter fans, lots of important plots are missing. And for those who have not read the book, they can hardly understand what is going on.

If the book is rated at 99 out of 100, the movie should be rated 40 or lower. However, it is no surprise that the movie still sell well, largely because the books was so successful, and everyone is "anticipating" a good movie out of it.

I agree, the books are AMAZING, yet the films do not come close to capturing this magical world. However, I actually think the 3rd, 4th, and 6th Harry Potter movies were very good! The other ones I was disappointed with.

if u download the flvdirect player, you will see the most disappointing movies of the decade...
If you know the right places and have the right software, you can download it for free, which is probably easier to do than finding a site which provides it.

Just get any FlvDirect player

ex: http://flvplayer-plus-movie-search.6x.to (it´s a free one). No Virus and No Spyware

1. click on -> search -> video
2. search for "most disappointing movies of decade"
3. click on -> watch online or -> download

enjoy and i hope it helps

(If you search for a certain episode of a tv show just add "all ep" to name in the search field and you will get all episodes listed)

PS: you can also search for movies,tv shows, music, videos etc

I rarely watch any movies that I do not enjoy. This is due to the fact that I prescreen all of my choices. I rate movies at netflix and read actual people's reviews. I have to say I am pleased with the process. This is my personal opinion based on actual movies that I tried to watch. A DVD has to be EXTREMELY bad before I'll chuck it out. These two I only made it 10 to 15 minutes into...

Smart People 2008

This movie highly disappointed me because I love Sarah Jessica Parker and Ellen Page

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=be0bBWnUrnY

Not sure if this classifies as a movie but the worst junk I've seen in along time is...

Jesus is Magic 2005

It isn't even because it's offensive, I just found it dull and stupid! It was so disappointing because I thought it would be so funny. Not!

Here is My Top 5:

5. Spider Man 3:

It was suppposed to be great, and it turned out to be a bust. The storyline was way too complicated, the mood of the film was also not consistent with the prior two, there were too many funny parts, which is not what the Spider Man Series should be about. There were too many villains, and most of them were not interesting. It was in my opinion, a major bust.

http://www.vectormagazine.co.uk/cgi-bin/upload/spiderman_3.jpg

4. King Kong

The movie was a joke, no action whatsoever, and the movie was way too long, people would get bored easily by it.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/6/6a/Kingkong_bigfinal1.jpg

3. Alone in the Dark

OMG this has simply got to be one of the worst movies ever, the reason that it is not my #1 most disappointing movie is because its hype wasn't so big to begin with. The entire movie is about as interesting as staring at a wall. Here is what a Rotten Tomatoes movie critic said about the film.

QUOTE

There's nothing even remotely entertaining about this film -- audiences should stay home and play the original (or one of its numerous sequels) on Playstation instead.

END QUOTE

2. Matrix Revolutions

This was one of the most hyped up movies of the decade, the result, as we all know it, is that the Revolution had a sucky ending that didn't seem to have been attached to the film at all. Did they actually unplug the humans???? The film was also very philosophically confusing. No doubt, it was one of the most disappointing films of the decade!!!

1. Tropic Thunder

This film surely won a lot of stinker's Awards, including mine. This was supposed to be the highest budgeted film of all time, and it ended up being one of the biggest jokes of all time. The film was bad, and the jokes in there are even worse. 99% of the film is not funny, save for maybe the beginning 1%, what was worse, the jokes about the mentally disabled stepped over the lines, which elevated this film from being lame to being a very disgusting film.

I disagree with your characterization of Tropic Thunder. It received very positive reviews in general, so to call it a joke is a little misleading.
