What were the first 3 heat machines? Main differences? What are today's equivalents?

Tip for best answer: M$10.25

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The first steam machine, was the Aeolipile (see picture bellow), in the first century B.C. It was a very basic device, that served to demonstrate that steam could be turned into motion (in this case, a rotation).

A steam turbine was invented by by Taqi al-Din in 1551.

The first practical steam-powered 'engine' was a water pump, developed in 1698 by Thomas Savery.

Do you mean mechanical devices that created heat, or mechanical devices that were for the purpose of creating heat?

I would think that the first mechanical device for the purpose of creating heat must have been the bellows. Ovens would have been created earlier, but they are not mechanical. Right? Today's equivalent must be a bellows in a steel furnace
What about a piece of glass? If you focus it, you will create heat. Not really mechanical though.
A bow and a stick for making fire. That has to be a mechanical device that makes heat. That should be one of them. Today's equivalent has to be a match.
I wonder if a fan that was operated by pedals and was designed to transfer heat from a fire to the rest of the room would qualify. I remember reading about something like this in antiquity. Today's equivalent has to be a heat pump.

Guessing for the most part.
