According to the Mahalo page, David Bonior, was involved in a conflict over a trip to Iraq.
"David Bonior and two other anti-war lawmakers, Mike Thompson and Jim McDermott, made a controversial trip to Iraq in 2002, which is under scrutiny for being funded by Saddam Hussein's Intelligence Agency. Muthanna Al-Hanooti, an official at a Detroit-based non-profit, arranged for the meeting and has been charged with being an Iraqi spy in an investigation that is ongoing. Bonior and the two other U.S. representatives have all denied knowing the trip was funded by the Hussein Intelligence Committee."
Maybe the general public just didn't believe him? People are finally being more "free-thinking" and not voting in corrupt people. I would hope so at least.
