(edit) Mahalo Research Tip
Find a reputable if not official source that lists the date of the first X Games. Learn what the inaugural sports were and link to a list of the winners. In addition, try to find video highlights from the first X Games.
Tip for best answer: M$5.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The first X Games were held in 1995, after ESPN, saw a niche of youth enthusiasts for extreme sports and to cash on them, in 1993. The sports involve bungee jumping, skateboarding, BMX and street luge.

"In 1993 ESPN recognized the potential of extreme sports and began plans for an international gathering of extreme sports athletes. The Extreme Games debuted in 1995. Competitors in nine categories including bungee jumping, skateboarding, BMX and street luge gathered in Rhode Island and Vermont for eight days of competition. 198,000 spectators witnessed the first event. In 1996 the name was officially changed to The X Games. One year later the first Winter X Games was held in California. In addition to the US games and qualifying events there are now X Games being held internationally."
