What was your favorite book of 2008?

Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

The Edge of Reason. by Melinda Snodgrass. A story about the clash between the forces of magic and religious fanaticism vs reason and technology.

Couldn't put it down. Read it in two nights.

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch & Jeffrey Zaslow.

An insider view on how a man chose to live his life to the fullest until the very end. Highly recommended along with the video based on the same topic.

Hard to say.

I will say Chuck Klosterman's "Downtown Owl", but I will probably think of five more before the night is over.

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the best series I discovered in 2008 was the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, aka The Southern Vampire Mysteries. I read every single one this year. They are really well written, entertaining mystery-vampire-romances. There are 8 so far. I think my favorite was Dead to the World, the fourth one. The HBO series True Blood is based on the books. I haven't seen it, but if it is as funny, exciting and sexy as the books that it is probably pretty good.
