What was the worst ending to a long-running TV series?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

M$Umm, drmatt? That's not how Seinfeld ended.
I mean, granted, it was stupid. But it ended with them all sitting in jail. And Jerry did a stand-up routine from prison.
Then... where did I see the getting off the subway scene? Is that my own creation?
I was never really into Seinfeld so I don't really know why you picked it! A little bit of an explanation would be nice. :)
Yeah... I was looking for a clip, but couldn't find one.
All four characters get out of a subway train, awkwardly say goodbye, and then go their separate ways.
Yup... that's it. And that was after a (for me) boring episode where they are stuck in a little town where their Big City ways clash. zzzzzz
That certainly sounds lame. :D
I'm not a big Seinfeld fan... I remember the ending was the subway scene.
Worst Ending Ever
*Spoiler*
Goes to Japan and willingly gets decapitated to fight a ghost.
She decides to stay dead to atone for setting a fire in a drunken rage that spread through a village killing 40,000 people.
It was poorly written, not in keeping with the feel of the series, and it killed any hope of a happy ending or movie spin off.
A fun series that forgets to be fun in the final act.

M$However, in the show's finale, I guess the producers just said, "Oops." They pretty much packed the entire history of Charmed into one short season ending; they didn't even bother to add an extra hour to the show. Its ending note was pretty much: "Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am."

M$Also ridiculous (and I am dating myself) was the finale to the long-running series, Dallas. A very loose take on "It's a Wonderful Life" with Joel Grey as the angel-slash-devil showing the scheming, manipulative JR how life might have been had he never been born (answer: a whole lot better for a lot of people). In the final scene, a maniacal Joel Grey urges JR to pull the trigger. We hear a gun shot and brother Bobby Ewing runs to the door. We do not see whether JR has actually shot himself or if he lives or dies.
It was a cheap and pathetic end to a slightly classier and long-running dramatic series loved by many.

M$I wonder how Larry, Daryl, and Daryl felt about that.

M$Oh, that's funny. I haven't looked at the best endings because I'm afraid I might run into a Lost spoiler I don't want to read (I'm only on season 5 via Hulu).
I was too young to have watched the original, but I loved his second show and looked forward to it every week. The ending, of course, made not sense to me, and when my mother explained it, I was pretty annoyed. :)
This one has been nominated for best ending as well! :)
People are being pretty good about posting spoiler warnings.
But I understand where you're coming from in avoiding spoilers. I'm being careful with one or two of the shows that have been mentioned and which I've not seen yet.

I totally agree. I LOVED The Sopranos and this was just a horrible way to end this wonderful series. I HATE not get closure.
