M$The song was composed by Horn, Geoff Downes and Bruce Wooley. Horn claimed that Woolley was primarily responsible for the musical content of the song while Horn wrote the lyrics. Woolley added the words 'put the blame on VTR'. The first version was recorded by Woolley and the Camera Club and became a hit in Canada. The Bugles later recorded the song and topped in the UK charts in the week of ]October 20 1979. This was the first ever number one for the Island Records label. It also topped the Australian charts and made it to the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States debuting on November 10, 1979 and peaked at number 40.
