What was the significance of Pink Floyd's pink pig?
I remember having seen a Pink Floyd live concert in Munich/Germany with this enormous pink pig hanging in the air. Why a pink pig?

The band Pink Floyd began using an inflatable pig during their concerts in 1977. Band member Roger Waters came up with the idea and he designed the pig. He commissioned artist Jeffrey Shaw to build the pig along with the design team Hipgnosis and they built a 40 foot high pink pig.
The pig was first used to shoot the cover of the Animals album in 1977. The shoot was done at the Battersea Power Station and the pig was supposed to be launched during the first day shooting. But a marksmen who was supposed to be there to shoot the pig down if it broke free did not show up. On the second day, they launched the pig and it broke free where it floated off and ended up in a farm field in Kent.
According to Waters, the pig was supposed to represent people who thought they were better than others and who felt that they were morally superior to everyone else. He thought these people were pigs. When the band did The Wall tour, they used a black pig instead of a pink one.
