The record highs for Oklahoma City often will not reach into the triple digits, however in the summer of 2005 there were 2 recorded days where the city reached a high of 100 degrees, +/- a few degrees depending on the time of day. These days were in August, the hottest time of the summer season. Most times the temperature will be 98 or 99 degrees, but with the dry heat, it seems much warmer than what the temperature says.
The previous recoded high was in Tulsa, Oklahoma in back in the year 2000. That record high reached 101 degrees +/- a few degrees and 15 days in August where the records reached 100 +/- a few degrees.
The only time where Oklahoma City had a record stretch of over 100 degree days was in August of 1980. August boasted a 25 day streak of over 100 degree days. 40 people died as a result of the heat, either from heat stroke, or dehydration; the majority being elderly.
If you are going to be out working in these dry temperatures it is best to keep cold water with you to help your body cool down. You can wear a hat to help protect your face from the sun, and be sure to use sun block. Also wear light weight natural material clothing such as rayon, cotton, linen, and silk. These clothes breathe better and allow you to stay cool.
