Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I think it is a controversy more having to do with the inability of the anti-Obama crowd to really be able to dig up any information on Mr Obama, concerning his college years, and years overseas, and the like. And they are using this example of the birth certificate to press the point.

The birth certificate in question is the certificate of live birth that is released by the state of Hawaii when a person requests their birth certificate, and it is just a summary of the information on the actual birth certificate that is held by the state. The image of the certificate that was released on the Huffington post originally was not a raw scan but was an image that was modified by Photoshop before it was posted, (possibly to resize it or format it to a different image type, who knows), which apparently left open some questions for some people. I think that is when factcheck.org dug into it more, and actually examined the document personally and vouched for it.. http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/born_in_the_usa.html

Then a statement was made by Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawaii Department of Health that the orignical certificate was actually on file, and that President Obama had been born in Hawaii.

The fact is though, that the President still has not definitively answered where he was born, (i.e. which hospital in Honolulu), and all that would be required would be to release a copy of the actual birth certificate.

But politics is being played to the hilt by both sides.

Does that surprise anyone?

Nothing is wrong with Pres. Obama's birth certificate.

But a small extreme faction of Conservatives, known as "birthers", are trying to assert that Obama doesn't possess a valid, authentic U.S. birth certificate. (Obviously they think this distraction is more important, then say, the economy or the jobless masses, ugh).

Now these "birthers" found an advocate in the House of Representatives, Rep. Trent Franks, who is claiming he plans to file a lawsuit to see Obama's birth certificate and make it public.

Ugh again.

Of course, if Franks is successful and does make the birth certificate public, then the Birther's will likely claim that it's falsified. The conspiracy will stretch to endless bounds and the Birthers will shout at the top of their lungs.

In the meantime, dozens of my friends and family are unemployed and losing their houses.

Absolutely nothing.

However, Congressman Trent Franks feels his time is best spent keeping the issue alive.

Meanwhile, my husband and many others in this country are unemployed, losing their homes, and losing their health insurance. I think politicians lose sight of the responsibility their jobs carry. It's about real people not Washington games and politics.Trustworthiness:Vendor reliability:Privacy:Child safety:
